Overview
Most web browsers include a feature to block pop-up windows. While this may eliminate unwanted pop-up windows, the feature sometimes can impede the functionality of legitimate or useful websites.
Steps
Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the icon with three vertical dots to the right of the search bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Security and Privacy from the menu to the left.
- Click Site Settings.
- Under the Content section, click Pop-ups and redirects.
- Select Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects to allow all pop-ups or only allow a specific site by clicking the Add button next to Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects and enter the URL.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the Menu button (3 horizontal dots to right of address bar).
- Click Settings.
- From the left menu, click Cookies and site permissions.
- Scroll down and click Pop-ups and redirects.
- Click the switch to Off to enable pop-ups on all websites.
- To only allow pop-ups on specific websites, in the Allow section, click Add. Enter the website URL, then click Add.
Safari
- Open Safari.
- In the menu bar on the top left, click Safari.
- Click Preferences.
- Click on the Websites tab.
- On the left, select Pop-up Windows.
- There will be a list of websites you are currently browsing under Currently Open Websites. In the drop-down menu next to the target website, select Allow or, to allow pop-ups on all websites, click the drop-down menu next to When visiting other websites and select Allow.
Firefox
- Open Firefox.
- Click the icon with three horizontal lines to the right of the search bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Privacy and Security from the menu to the left.
- Scroll down to Permissions.
- To allow pop-ups on all websites, uncheck Block pop-up windows.
- To only allow pop-ups on specific websites, click Exceptions and enter the website URL. Click Allow, then Save Changes.
