Create Shortcut to a Website on Home Screen

Overview

The home screen on your computer or mobile device isn't just a place where your apps live. You can also add shortcuts to websites. Here's how to create an "app" for any website on your device, allowing you to access shortcuts directly from your home screen.

 

Steps

Windows

  1. Right click a blank area on your desktop screen.
  2. Click New, then click Shortcut.
  3. Enter the URL of the webpage your want to create the shortcut for.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Name your shortcut, then click Finish.

 

MacOS

  1. Open a browser and go to the website you want to create the shortcut for.
  2. Click and hold the URL on the top of the browser and drag it onto your desktop or dock.

 

iOS

  1. Open Safari and go to the website you want to create the shortcut for.
  2. Tap the Share icon.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Name your shortcut, then tap Add.

 

Android

  1. Open Chrome and go to the website you want to create the shortcut for.
  2. Tap the menu icon (3 dots in top right corner).
  3. Tap Add to home screen.
    1. If the website has an app in the Play Store, the Add to home screen option will be replaced by Install app.
  4. Name your shortcut, then tap Add.
