Open an Encrypted Email

Overview

Encrypting an email message protects the content in the message. Email messages should be encrypted if they contain sensitive information, such as passwords or personally identifiable information (PII). Use the steps below to open encrypted email messages sent by Providence College.

Steps

1. When you open the email, click on the “Read the message” button
2. Choose the “Sign in with a one-time passcode” option.
3. You will receive a separate email from Microsoft Office 365 Message Encryption with the passcode
4. Enter the one-time passcode into the box and click continue
5. You now have access to the contents of the encrypted email.
