Steps
Before Joining a Meeting
Change Your Video Settings
Open Zoom.
Click the settings icon at the top right.
Click
Video
from the left menu.
Under
Camera
, select your device from the drop-down menu and you will see a preview of that camera's video.
Scroll down to see additional video settings.
Change Your Audio Settings
Open Zoom.
Click the settings icon at the top right.
Under
Speaker
, select your device from the drop-down menu.
To test the speaker, click
Test Speaker
. Make sure your speaker's volume is turned up. If you can hear the ringtone, your speaker is working.
Under
Microphone
, select your device from the drop-down menu.
To test the microphone, click
Test Mic
. As you speak, you should see the blue bar fluctuate with the volume levels. After speaking, your recording will replay.
Scroll down to see additional audio settings.
When Joining a Meeting
Change Your Audio Settings
When you join a meeting, you will be asked to join with your computer audio.
If this message does not show up when you join a meeting, go to
Settings
, click
Audio
, and uncheck
Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting
.
To test your audio settings, click
Test Speaker and Microphone
.
Select your speaker from the drop-down menu.
A ringtone will play. Make sure your speaker volume is turned up.
If you cannot hear the ringtone, click
No, Try Another Speaker
.
If you can hear the ringtone, click
Yes
.
Select your microphone from the drop-down menu.
Speak into your mic, then listen to the replay. As you speak, the input level should fluctuate.
If you cannot hear the replay and the input level does not change, click
No, Try Another Microphone
.
If you can hear the replay, click
Yes
.
Click
End Test
.
While in a Meeting
Change Your Video Settings
While in a meeting, click the up arrow next to the video camera icon.
From the menu, click
Video Settings
.
Under
Camera
, select your device from the drop-down menu and you will see a preview of that camera's video.
Scroll down to see additional video settings.
Change Your Audio Settings
While in a meeting, click the up arrow next to the microphone icon.
From the menu, click
Audio Settings
.
Under
Speaker
, select your device from the drop-down menu.
To test the speaker, click
Test Speaker
. Make sure your speaker's volume is turned up. If you can hear the ringtone, your speaker is working.

Troubleshooting
Turn On Your Microphone and Camera
If your device is connected properly but others can not see or hear you, your camera may be off or your mic may be muted. A red slash over the camera or microphone icon indicates it has been turned off.
To turn it on, click the icon (the red slash will disappear).
Check System Privacy Settings
To use your camera or microphone in Zoom, you may need to change privacy settings on your device to give Zoom access to it.
Windows 10
Right click the Windows start button, then click
Settings
.
Click
Privacy
or
Privacy & Security
.
From the left menu, click
Camera
or
Microphone
.
Toggle on
Allow apps to access your camera
or
Allow apps to access your microphone
.
If Zoom is listed, toggle on.
Close all apps and restart your computer.
macOS
Click the apple menu at the top left.

Privacy & security
.
Under
Privacy
, click
Camera
or
Microphone
.
Toggle on Zoom.
Close all apps and restart your computer.

Open Chrome.

from the left menu.

Site settings

Recent Activity

View permissions and data stored across sites
.
Scroll down and click
zoom.us
.
Click

Set
Camera
and
Microphone
to allow.
