Single Sign-On (SSO)
Most resources use a single sign-on (SSO) for access. Providence College uses Microsoft 365 for SSO. For any resource that uses SSO, you will see a similar sign-in page and might be prompted for MFA.
Primary Resources Using SSO
Net ID
Your Net ID is the first part of your email address, before the @ symbol. It is used to sign onto computers on campus, the PC-Secure wireless network, and a handful of other resources that are not tied to SSO.
The password for both SSO and your Net ID is linked. If you change one password, you change both.
Password
Your Net ID password must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 10 characters
- Must not be one of your previous 24 passwords
- Must not contain any part of your Net ID or name
- Must not include the words “providence” or “friars”

When will I receive my email account information?
For undergraduate students, information on your user accounts at Providence College is sent out by mid-May prior to your first semester. The information is sent via encrypted email.
For graduate students and continuing education students, information on your user accounts is sent to you a couple days after enrolling.
How to open an Encrypted Email
For faculty and staff, your account is setup following completion of paperwork with HR. Account information is sent to your department on campus. Alternatively, you can email the Helpdesk at helpdesk@providence.edu, and we can arrange to have the account information emailed to you.
